What
is Addict?
Addict
is a program you can use to prevent yourself and others from using the
computer or from using certain applications.
Why would
I want to do a thing like that?
-
You are supposed to work on
a project, and you promise yourself that you will - after "just one more"
game of Windows Solitaire. Two hours later, you still havent started
doing work, and not even Solitaire is going well.
-
Your kids are spending way
too much time playing a new computer game. Sure, you can make a deal
with them: limit of two hours per day of playing the game.
But who is going to monitor 24 hours a day, making sure the agreement is
followed?
Most of
todays computer users will recognize at least one of the above situations.
The number of people who are in some way addicted to computers is much
higher than we often think.
What
does Addict do that is so special?
If you
schedule Addict to keep you from playing Solitaire, it wont just remind
you its time you stopped playing - it will close it for you, and not let
you use it again for a while. If you want the computer off at 2am until
the next morning, Addict will turn it off and keep it off, guaranteed.
You can
use Addict to keep yourself or others from using practically any program,
or from using the computer at all.
These
are just the basic features of the program. Go ahead, see for yourself.
